Who’s first date is at a karaoke bar? One of our Spring couple’s, Cady and Alex, decided a karaoke bar would be the perfect place for their first date and spent that night serenading each other with songs, “Like A Surgeon” (parody of Madonna’s “Like A Virgin”) and “Our Song” (Taylor Swift). Pretty bold and daring, don’t you think? That’s just one of the reasons we love Castleton’s quirky couple, Cady Kington and Alex Cavalea!

Cady and Alex immediately knew their relationship was one of a kind and a definite match (thank you Match.com) from first song to proposal. With less than one month until their wedding weekend, we are all excited for this nurse practitioner and future surgeon to tie the knot!

Alex moved from Chicago to Knoxville to begin his surgical residency and Cady, after a few more entertaining dates, was glad he did. At a romantic weekend getaway in Asheville, Alex proposed to Cady in June of 2016 –

complete with rose petals, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a gorgeous engagement ring.

When deciding on where to get married and celebrate their wedding, Cady remembers seeing “Sweet Home Alabama” when she was still single and knowing then she wanted to get married in a Southern setting. When she discovered “Castleton Farms” on Facebook, she was thrilled this perfect venue was so close to her Tennessee home and said to herself, “I am going to get married there someday!”

Well, dreams really do come true. After her engagement to the soon-to-be Dr. Cavalea, Cady and her parents visited “Castleton Farms.”

“Once I got the OK from Mom and Dad, I knew it was meant to be. Mom and I went to various other popular venues, but I could not get the beauty and elegance of Castleton Farms out of my mind. There truly is no other venue that compares in beauty and class,” said Bride Cady.

Now with just weeks to go, Cady and Alex’s plans are in motion as the Castleton team makes their vision a reality. More than anything, we know this world will be a better place after Cady and her pup, Gracie, join Alex and his two cats, Spidey and Nala, on April 22, 2017. Cady couldn’t have said it better: “We cannot wait to grow in mutual weirdness together for the rest of our lives as husband and wife!”

Happy Valentine’s Day With Love

Could there be a better day than Valentine’s Day to share a glimpse into the love story of our very own Executive Director Darla Walker and her husband of 37 years, Mr. Howard Walker? We invite you to enjoy their story and these spectacular images shot in Ireland a few months ago as Darla and Howard celebrated their long lasting (and obviously still sizzling!) marriage.

At the sweet young age of 18 and 23, Darla and Howard were in love. Darla’s father, an evangelist, married them at a revival meeting in Atlanta, Georgia – Howard in blue jeans and Darla in her mama’s white dress. “We grew up together,” Darla admits, and they have. Their lives are blessed with children, grandchildren, and Darla’s beloved Castleton brides. “I didn’t have a typical wedding ceremony or a reception and I just love planning dream weddings for our Castleton families,” says Darla.

Killarney Countryside Offers Magical Moments

Their trip to Ireland was magic. To ride through the Killarney countryside in a horse drawn carriage with the one you love, stroll in and out of the ancient ruins of the Abbey, walk on moss covered paths in the National Forest, and take refuge in the arms of your beloved as the wind blows off the Irish coast is – to say the least – romantic! Then to do it all in a red dress, well, we have to admit, it just doesn’t get much better than that!View More: http://leahbullard.pass.us/walker2016

How Do You Make Love Last?

How does a relationship enjoy such staying power? There are many reasons behind successful relationships, but Darla believes her success is based on two main things: Love and respect. “I respect Howard. I build him up. And, he absolutely cherishes me,” says Darla. If you look closely at their photos, you can see it in their eyes.

We at Castleton Farms wish this kind of love and staying power to all our brides this Valentine’s Day. As you celebrate the one you love, remember to respect and build each other up. Everyday. And cherish each other. Hold each other close, protect, and lovingly care for one another and before you know it, you too will be celebrating 37 years of marriage!
